Classroom Acceptable Use Policy

Pamlico County High School believes the use of the Internet is a privilege, not a right. This privilege may be revoked for violation of Board policy.  It is the belief of Pamlico County Schools that all students shall become responsible digital citizens.

  • Use of the Internet is to support Educational Purposes Only. Students shall not be gaming, chatting - otherwise off task during their Visual Arts class.

  •  Students must back out of any site that is transmitting unacceptable information or graphic material. Students should immediately report the accidental visit to the teacher or school administrator. This will protect students against allegations that they have intentionally violated the Acceptable Use Guidelines.

  • Downloading, storing, accessing, distributing, or printing files, graphics, or messages that are profane, obscene or that use language that is harassing,       offends, or degrades others is prohibited.

  • Communicate Respectfully to All.

  • Students shall respect all copyright, trademark and licensing agreements and laws, including seeking permission when required.

  • Users should not use another person’s User ID and password for accessing the network, nor should a user allow another person to use his or her User ID and password.

  • Students shall log off when not using computer.

  • Students must respect the integrity of the computers and networks in the schools, by not altering any hardware, software or writing configurations.

  •  Students must respect that network bandwidth, server disk space, and printer paper and toner are shared and limited resources.

  • Students Shall back files up to the server.

  • Students should be careful to not place any technology equipment near water sources or other art making material that could harm or destroy the laptop.


Consequences for Violations
   
May result in restriction of computer use (e.g. day user privileges only, removal of Internet capabilities from laptop, restriction to use of flash drive only, or access to restricted user on specific web sites).

May result in the loss of laptop or school computer access for time designated by administrator if incident involves school computers. Administrator will determine if loss of computer or computer access is logical consequence.

Law enforcement shall be notified.

Shall result in out-of-school suspension up to 10 days. Special circumstances may result in out-of-school suspension for the remainder of the school year.
